|Albert L. Shumaker, 91, of Macomb, Ill., died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 in Grand Prairie Assisted Living Center in Macomb.
He was born June 21, 1920 in Avon, Ill. the son of Charles A. and Ruth Marie Thurman Shumaker. He married Lucille Tuthill on February 18, 1955 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death in February of 1993.
He is survived by two sons, Rodger Lyle (and Patricia) Shumaker of Stover, Mo. and Steven (and Patricia) Shumaker of Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Carolyn Lee (and Finley) Pritchett of Payson, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchild; and a brother, Virgil (and Nina) Shumaker of Lewistown, Ill. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two grandchildren.
Albert lived most his life in the Western Illinois area and also lived several years in Arkansas. He was a farmer and an independent grain elevator contractor. He graduated from London Mills High School in 1939 and attended Drake University. He attended the First Christian Church in Knoxville.
Graveside service will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Bishop Richard Thurman will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 pm Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
