|Earl R. Carlson 95, of Knoxville, Illinois passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 7:30 P.M. at the Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
Earl was born November 13, 1916 in Knoxville, Illinois the son of Alden and Clara (Nelson) Carlson. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1935. Earl then joined the Army serving his country during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He married Betty Ecklund on November 10, 1952 in Galesburg, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2000.
Earl is survived by his 2 sons Mike Carlson of Galesburg, Illinois, Richard (Janet) Carlson of Parker, Arizona, 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Parents, Brothers and Sisters; Harold, Ralph, Raymond, Vivian, Lawrence, Bud, Dorthy Cottle and Hazel Watters.
Earl was a truck driver and welder for Carlson Services, member of the American Legion, a volunteer fireman for the city of Knoxville for many years, Half a Hundred Club (for those who have graduated from Knoxville High School for 50 years or more). He also loved to go fishing and mushroom hunting.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Knoxville Cemetery. Rev. Michel D. Clark will be officiating. Memorial donations can be left to the Grace Lutheran Church, Knoxville. Online condolences and sympathy cards can be made at www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
