Meldrum, Martha
Martha "Jane" Meldrum, 95, of Galesburg, Ill. died 8:07 pm Sunday, April 21, 2013 in Seminary Manor Nursing Home.

Jane was born October 29, 1917 in Galesburg, Ill., the daughter of Earl H.A. and Mabel Wimmergren Culver. She married John W. Meldrum in Galesburg on June 16, 1939. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2010.

She is survived by two sons, John "Jack" and Christie Meldrum, Jr. of Highlands, Colo. and James "Jim" and Cindy Meldrum of Aledo, Ill.; two granddaughters, Melissa (and Todd) Ratkowski and Jessica (and Don) Downing and two great grandchildren, Tyler James Ratkowski and Hailey Marie Downing.

Jane was active in Galesburg in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and PTA. She was active in the First Presbyterian Church, the Red Cross Motor Corps during World War II for the duration. Jane graduated from Galesburg Senior High School in 1936 and the Browns Business College in 1939. She was a stay at-home Mom until her son Jim graduated High School then she was employed as a secretary in the Galesburg High School. Her husband was transferred to Miami, Florida in 1969. They moved to Plantation, Florida where Jane became a volunteer at the former Doctors General Hospital for 27 years; a member of the P .E.O. Chapter BL, Fort Lauderdale, FL; a member of the A.A.R.P #3173 in Plantation, FL and the Oil Painting Club and Water Color Association in Plantation.

Jane and John stayed in Plantation until 2005 when they moved to Davenport, lowa, then back to Galesburg until her death.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, April 26, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Sarah Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00pm at the Chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
