Steck, Walter W.
Walter W. Steck, 76, of Wataga IL died at 6:29 PM Thursday May 6, 2010 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

He was born February 5, 1934 in Peoria County, IL the son of Frank and Fern Weeks Steck. He married Shirley Edelman on June 18, 1961 in Galesburg at the First Presbyterian Church. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons Terry (Diane) Steck of Oneida, Ill, Steven (Dianne) Steck of Galesburg and James (Amy) Steck of Decatur, Ill; a daughter Janice (Raymond) White of Springfield, Ill; his brother Darrel (Belle) Steck of Wataga and nine grandchildren Kelly, Megan, Andrew, Macy, Mackenzie, Harrison, Corbin, Adam and Alex and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Kenneth Steck and a niece.

Walter served in the US Army from 1956-1958.

He was a lifetime farmer in the Wataga area. He was an avid sports fan, especially for his grandchildren. He graduated from Galesburg High School. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Monday May 10, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. David Parker will officiate. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday May 9, 2010 at the chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in North Henderson Ill.
