McMaster, Mary Catherine "Katie"
Mary Catherine McMaster, known to family and friends as Katie, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 7:15 P.M. at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born on September 25, 1916 in Woodhull, Illinois, the daughter of Jim and Mabel Tilden O'Connor, sister of Tilden, Bob and Peggy O'Connor.

Catherine O'Connor and Tom McMaster were married June 17, 1943 and spent the rest of their years together until Tom's death on September 3, 2002.

She is survived by Martha (David) Hurst, Peg (Roger) Wenstrom, Mary (Barry) Stein, Jim (Gloria) McMaster and Tom (Deanie) McMaster.

Katie loved her fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren

Katie spent her life in the Oneida area raising her five children, and later, always at the side of her husband, Tom, former Illinois State Representative. Together they enjoyed the many people of Illinois with whom they became acquainted on the campaign trail during Tom's many years serving his constituents.

Katie was a member of St. Aloysius Church, Knox County Republican Women, Reading Buddies and St. Mary's Volunteers.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Aloysius Church in Wataga, Illinois. Fathers Pizzamiglio and Deus officiating.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2010 from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home in Oneida, Illinois with Rosary Service at 6:00 P.M.

Burial in Oneida Cemetery in Oneida, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children Hospital. The family of Katie McMaster would like to thank the wonderful caregivers of Hawthorne Inn and Garden Court of Seminary Manor, and also Dr. James King and Dr. Richard Flacco for their compassionate care.
