|Helen Hart Stierwalt, 91, 77 Heritage Drive, Galesburg, died at 5 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 in Seminary Manor.
She was born June 3, 1918 in Fairfield, Ill., the daughter of W.G. and Lute Hall Hart. She married Lotus H. Stierwalt on April 25, 1937 in Fairfield. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2004.
She is survived by a son, William (and Ellen) Stierwalt of Brentwood, Tenn., a daughter, Barbara (and Jeffrey) Gardner of Evanston, Ill., seven grandchildren, one great grandson, and a brother, William G. Hart II of Worland, Wyo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Helen was a homemaker. She was raised and educated in Fairfield, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1935. She later lived in Worland, Wyo. for over 25 years and had lived in Galesburg since 1970.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its Women's Circle. She was also a member of PEO Chapter HO and the Sorosis Study Club. Helen delivered Meals on Wheels for over 30 years and volunteered at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She was an avid Bridge player.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Fairfield.
