Phelps, Norma R.
Norma R. Phelps passed away Wednesday May 12, 2010, at 6:50 am at the Countryview Care Center, Macomb, IL.

She was born on January 15, 1926 in Maquon, IL, the daughter of Robert L. and Berniece O. Barbero Spilman. She first married Charles Hatch in Chicago, IL and later married David "Elzie" Phelps on February 19, 1971 in Macomb, IL.

She is survived by three daughters: Charlotte (Ken) Jensen of IL, Cynthia Zancan of IN, and Lisa May (Tim Hook) of IL; three sons: Robert (Joyce) Hatch of NY, Mike Phelps of IL, and David E.(Lynn) Phelps Jr. of IL; 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 1 son Robert Phelps, 1 brother Frederick L. Spilman and 1 beloved son in law Paul Zancan .

Norma was born and raised in rural Maquon, IL graduating from Maquon High School. She lived most of her life in the Avon community. She worked at the Railroad Retirement Fund in Chicago, IL, Fleetwood Manufacturing in Macomb, IL, Avon Saving and Loans, Lillie and Harmon Insurance Agency Avon, IL, and CIPS in Bushnell, IL; she also worked for 8 years at the American Excelsior Co. in Arlington, TX. She was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church, Hipatian Club, and the Greenbush Card Club.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday May 15, 2010 at the Avon United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Avon Cemetery.
