|Martha Jane Barton, 87, 1086 E. North St., Galesburg, died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at home surrounded by her family's love.
She was born March 24, 1923 in Roseville, Ill., the daughter of Fred and Leona Norville Landon. She married Kenneth L. Barton on September 29, 1942 in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2009.
She is survived by a daughter, Crystal (and Glenn) Moore of Galesburg, three sons, Kenny (and Mary) Barton of Glendale, Wis. and Garry (and Tammy) Barton and Russell Barton, both of Galesburg, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and her twin sister, Mary (and Doyle) Benson of LaBelle, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Martha was a homemaker. She was raised and educated in Abingdon. She moved to Galesburg after her marriage where she raised her family with strength, love, and a sense of humor. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Martha had a love for reading and listening to country music, especially Garth Brooks and Loretta Lynn.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jim Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
