Earl Z. Roy age 91, of Galesburg, Illinois formerly of Galva and Victoria, Illinois died at 6:15 P.M. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Marigold Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on September 5, 1918 in Rockwell, Iowa, the son of Sylvester and Elva Johnson Roy.
He married Genevieve Luella Howard on October 19, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois.
She preceded him in death on February 28, 1988.
Surviving are:
Daughter: Janet (Francis Pearsall) Roy of Norris City, Illinois
Sons: James Rodney (Sinda) Roy of Gladewater, Texas and Roger Raymond Roy of Missouri
Special Companion: Eileen Bowen of Galesburg, Illinois
Four Grandchildren and One Great Grandchild
Brother: Leo Roy of San Antonio, Texas
Preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers
He was reared and educated in Ralfe, Iowa.
He lived in Dahinda and Williamsfield, Illinois for six years before moving to Victoria, Illinois in 1957.
He worked for the natural gas pipeline company; drove mail truck from Chicago to Peoria, Illinois; worked for Consumer Grain and Supply in Galesburg, Illinois retiring May `6, 1975.
He was a member of the Victoria United Methodist Church; the former A.T. Darrah Masonic Lodge #793, AF & AM of Victoria, Illinois now the Altona Masonic Lodge #330 of Altona, Illinois; and the former Eagles Lodge #518 of Galesburg, Illinois.
Cremation Rites will be accorded.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Victoria Cemetery in Victoria, Illinois. There will be no Visitation.
