Bailey, Robert C.
Robert C. Bailey, age 86, of Knoxville, Illinois, died on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 9:30 P.M. at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born September 28, 1923 near Delong, Illinois, the son of Richard Wallace and Ada Clara Hills Bailey.

He married his high school sweetheart S. Jean Conover on January 20, 1944.

They were married for 64 years. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2008.

Surviving are:

Two Sons: Robert E. (Chris) Bailey of Gilson, Illinois

David A. (Marsha) Bailey of Gilson, Illinois

Five Granddaughters: Mary (Byron) Austin of Knoxville, Illinois
Lynn Klossing of Galesburg, Illinois
Karla (Ed) Schultz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Karen (Robert) St. George of Virginia Beach, Virginia
Kathy Grubb of Galesburg, Illinois

Eight Great Grandchildren: Bailey, Brandon, Tyler, Matthew, Madison, Dalton, Emily and Dace

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Richard Bailey

He attended Sherman Grade School and graduated from the Gilson High School in Gilson,

School. He farmed all his life in Knox County, Illinois. He was a true gentleman, always thinking of others.

He was a member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church and served on the Church board and held various offices.

He was a 60 year member of the Maquon Masonic Lodge #530 AF&AM in Maquon, Illinois; served on the Knox County Extension Council; was a charter member of the Pork Producers and Corn Growers; member of Knox County Farm Bureau and was a 20 year leader of Delong Livestock 4H.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois.

Rev. Robert Herath officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home with Masonic Services conducted by Maquon Masonic Lodge # 530 AF & AM at 8:00 P.M.

Burial will be in the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Knoxville United Methodist Church.
