|Jonathan "Bud" P. Parkin, 20, of Galesburg, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at home.
He was born July 12, 1990 in Galesburg, the son of Roy A. Parkin and Catherine A. Wiley-Parkin.
He is survived by his parents, Roy A. Parkin and Catherine A. Wiley-Parkin of Galesburg; two sisters, Catherine R. Parkin of San Francisco, Calif. and Annie O. (fiancee Blake Cohen) Parkin of Springfield, Ill.; brother of the heart, Brad Hannam of Naperville, Ill.; sister of the heart, Karen (Kirk) Myhre of Eleva, Wis.; niece and nephews, Leah, Jack, and Fletcher; his second moms, Sharon Hill and Peg Hannam, both of Galesburg; two aunts, Debby Wiley-Sloan and her family of Windsor, Ill. and Evelyn Bowman and her family of Ballwin, Mo.; and uncle, David Currie of Sacramento, Calif.
Bud graduated from Galesburg High School in 2009. He had just completed his second year at Carl Sandburg College and was transferring to Illinois State University in the fall to pursue a degree in Psychology and planned on getting his master's degree so he could counsel troubled teens.
Bud enjoyed his family, honoring family traditions, fishing with his dad, antiquing with his mom, friends, Illini sports, Chicago Bulls, movies, and music, especially The Beatles. Bud will always be remembered for his concern for the world around him and standing up for those less fortunate.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. James Ecklund officiating. Graveside service will be noon Thursday in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, Ill. Memorials may be made to Larkin Street Youth Services, San Francisco, Calif.
