|Marie Baumgardner, 77, of Galesburg, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Cottage Hospital.
Marie was born December 12, 1933 in Indian Point Township, Knox County, the daughter of William and Gladys (Sharer) Hasley. She married George W. Baumgardner on January 1, 1958 at the Christian Church in Abingdon. Marie is survived by 3 sons, Scott Baumgardner of Soldotna, AK, Jeff (Kathleen) Baumgardner of Fort Collins, CO, and Greg Baumgardner of Abingdon; and one daughter, Karen Robinson of Knoxville. She is also survived by her twin brother, Marion "Bud" Hasley of Abingdon; a sister, Barbara Hickey of Abingdon; 6 grandchildren, Heather Stickle, Amanda Robinson, Jamie Baumgardner, Jacob Baumgardner, MaKayla Baumgardner, and Myiah Davis; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 29, 1994; her mother and father; her step father, Emmett Cutler; a brother, Donald Ray Hasley; and a step grandson, Army Specialist Bryan Hale Nelson.
Marie graduated from Abingdon High School in 1952 and Cottage School of Nursing in 1955. She worked as a R.N. at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for 44 years, retiring in 1999.
Marie loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved to travel, sew, and spend time gardening. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play baseball. Marie also enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at Watson Funeral Home, with Eleanor Landon officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Watson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
