Simonson, Barbara L.
Barbara L. Simonson, 81, of Monmouth, formerly of Little York, died 12:43 A.M. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Trinity Medical Center Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, IA.

She was born December 26, 1929 in Monmouth, the daughter of George B. and Hazel Mildred (Nelson) Lafferty. She was raised and educated in Warren and Mercer Counties.

Barbara married James Dale Simonson in Aledo on November 21, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1986.

She was a homemaker. In later life she helped the elderly in their homes. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, yard work, cooking and country western music.

Her family includes, one daughter, Mary Joyce Crick of Fiatt, IL, one son Dale Thomas (Judy) Simonson of Bettendorf, IA, 5 granddaughters, Teresa Ellis, Kathleen Crick, Melissa Williams, Karen Crick and Emma Simonson and two great granddaughters, one sister, Marjorie Quilty of Galesburg, 4 brothers, George (Carole) Lafferty, Richard (Margaret) Lafferty, David Lafferty and Ted (Barbara) Lafferty all of Alexis and one sister-in-law, Ruby McKelvey of Monmouth along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 sister in infancy, Elizabeth, two brothers, Bill and Larry and one son-in-law, Larry Crick.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Pastor David Dutton of the Little Cedar Presbyterian Church, Little York. Burial will be in Little York Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel where her family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Memorials may be left to be designated later.
