Linda J. Johnson, 70, of 1125 Tamarind Dr., Galesburg, Ill. died at 6:44 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born September 11, 1940 in Henderson County, Ill. to Allen and Opal Anderson Hess. She married Loren L. Johnson May 22, 1966 in Berwick, Ill. He survives.
Also surviving is a son, Erik Johnson of Boulder, Colo.; a daughter, Kristen (and Mike) Cho of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, James Hess of Olin, Iowa; a sister, Billie Ross of Monmouth, Ill.; and a granddaughter, Clara Cho. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Linda worked for the former May Company, Galesburg from 1958 to 1974. She later worked in the office of NAEIR from 1992 until her retirement in 2005. She graduated from Little York High School in 1958. She loved her children and was very excited to see her first grandchild.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded following funeral service. Burial of cremated remains will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials can be to Habitat for Humanity or FISH Food Pantry.
