|Thomas David "Dave" Richards, age 63, of 1661 N. Academy St., Galesburg, Ill. died Friday May 6, 2011 at 6:15 p.m. at his home.
He was born August 25, 1947 in Washington, DC the son of Thomas Jefferson and Dorothy Gray Sisson Richards. He married Denise Cherrington in Galesburg on September 20, 1975.
Dave is survived by his wife Denise; mother and father, Eugene and Dorothy Fleming of White Stone, Va.; one son, Kevin Richards of Galesburg; one brother, Mark and Cathy Fleming of Charlotte Hall, Md.; one sister, Phyllis and Brad Pinckney of Clements, Md.; and one sister-in-law, Patty Fleming. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Richards. One brother Matt Fleming died in 2009.
He graduated from Duval High School in 1966. He served two tours in Vietnam in the United States Marine Corp. from 1966 to 1969 attaining the rank of Corporal. He worked for Sieg Company and later The Parts House for 16 years, retiring in 1999. Dave was a member of the First Church of God and the American Legion in Fairfax, Iowa. He was an avid car enthusiast, loved drag racing and built a 1966 Cobra replica car.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday May 10, 2011 at the First Church of God with Rev. Dennis McQuown officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
