|Rafael Garcia, 77, of Galesburg, died at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012 in Marigold Health Care Center.
He was born March 21, 1935 in Cordoba, Spain, the son of Patricio Garcia and Concepcion Barbudo. He married Conchita Solsona on October 5, 1959 in Madrid, Spain. She preceded him in death February 11, 2008.
He is survived by a son, Rafael Garcia Solsona and wife, Vicky of Malaga, Spain; a daughter, Patricia G. Nalley and husband, James W. Jr. of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Barbara and Mike Fritz of Washington, Ill., James W. Nalley III of Galesburg, Patricia Garcia of Spain, and Jake T. Nalley of Galesburg; and two great granddaughters, Emma and Chloe Fritz.
Rafael was an insurance adjustor in Spain. After moving to Galesburg in 1997, he worked at Farmland and Galesburg School District 205, until retirement.
Rafael was an artist and writer. He belonged to the Art and Liberty Club on line. He loved to read, watch movies, and listen to music. Rafael loved nature and people.
He had served in the Cavalry in Spain for three years.
Cremation will be accorded. No public service is planned. His remains will be returned to Spain. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
