Donald E. Pickens, 88, of 2345 N. Seminary St. Galesburg, Ill. died 7:55 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
He was born December 7, 1923 in Galva, Ill. to Clyde and Rose Swanson Pickens.
He is survived by a son, Keith Nelson of Galva, four grandchildren, Randall Nelson of Galva, Elizabeth Cooper of Woodhull, Ill., Christopher Nelson of Madison, Wisc. and Wendy Kerman of Mt. Zion, Ill., five great grandchildren and a special niece, Linda Johnson Kasich of Springfield, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert Pickens and a sister Marian Johnson. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Galesburg.
Cremation will be accorded. Burial of cremated remains will be in Galva Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Galesburg Rescue Mission, Bethel Baptist Church or Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com. |
