Rupert, Jody E.
Jody E. "Joan" Rupert, 74, of Galesburg, died at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at home.

Joan was born on January 27, 1938 in Brown County, Illinois the daughter of Leo J. and Marie E. (Gleeson) Lehne. She married Richard Rupert in 1958 in Sterling. He preceded her in death in 1996. Joan is survived by two sons, David (and Brenda) of Knoxville and Tom (and Yovanka) of Davenport, IA; one daughter, Beth (and Jim) Norris of Galesburg; and two sisters, Helen (and Bob) Rupert of Galesburg and Marge Butler of Mt. Sterling. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ashley, Mitchell and Morgan Rupert; Miranda and McKinzi Rupert; Felicia Dunn and Benjamin Norris; and two great grandchildren, KaVon and KaiMire. In addition to her husband, Joan was preceded in death by a son, Jerry in 1998, one brother, and one sister.

Joan graduated from Brown's Business College and was a bookkeeper for many years, first working at P&M Sign Company and later at Hi-Lo Grocery. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and its altar and rosary society. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid collector, especially carnival glass. During a visit to Joans house you could always see that she enjoyed Milky Ways and Coca Cola.

Visitation for Joan will be Friday June 1, 2012 at Watson Funeral Home from 11 a.m to 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Father William Miller, I.C. will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Altar and Rosary Society or to the American Cancer Society. Visit www.watsonfh.net to share condolences.
