|Karen Elaine Akin, 63 of 170 S. West Street, Galesburg, Ill. died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at her home.
Karen was born January 16, 1950 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence E. Bobb and Laura Belle Robison Bobb. She married Roy Dean Akin on October 22, 1970 in Scottsdale, Ariz. He survives.
Also surviving is a son, Joseph Akin of Galesburg; a daughter, Kristy Akin of Galesburg; a brother, Wayne Bobb of Newalla, Okla. and two stepsisters, Betty Mills of Sarasota, Fla. and Bonnie Mulenex of Oklahoma City, Okla. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and two brothers.
Karen lived a number of places in Ohio, Texas and Ariz. before moving to Galesburg in 1970. She attended Cornado High School, graduating in 1968. She was a homemaker.
Karen was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
