|Joyce H. Mellentin of Galesburg, Illinois passed away in Galesburg, Illinois on May 7, 2013.
She was born on September 18, 1928 in Carmi, Illinois the daughter of Norman and Esther (Roland) Hubele. She graduated from the Carmi School District. She then met and later married her husband, Vernon Mellentin on February 25, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. He survives in Galesburg, Illinois.
They had two children; Robin C. and Jay S. Mellentin. She is also survived by her granddaughter Tammy L. Mellentin and Tammy's mother Carrie L. Edson, three great-grandchildren; Nicole Marie Mellentin, Kimberly Joyce Mellentin, and Jason Earl Curtis. Also surviving are her five brothers and one sister; Leroy Hubele, Robert Hubele, Vernon Hubele, Helen Rasure, Richard Hubele, and Kenneth Lee Hubele.
Joyce was a good person and a strong individual. She was a cheerful soul and touched many people in a positive way. Joyce accomplished a great deal in her life and nobody could leave her without a smile.
Per her request cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial donations may be made to the Knox County Humane Society. The Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois is assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
