|Darlene V. Scott, 96, of Galva, died at noon on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Dr. Kevin Siscoe will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army.
She was born July 11, 1916 in Bradford, IL, the daughter of Fred E. and Agnes E. (Scott) Ferris. She married Bernard Scott in 1938 in Iowa and he preceded her in death in 1967. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Leland, Steve and David, three grandsons, Addam, Clinton and Steven, a sister, Marie and seven brothers, Glen, Floyd, Ross, Leslie, Fred, Keith and Guy.
Darlene is survived by the most blessed children who had the most caring, loving and hard working Mother that raised ten children alone and they are her sons, Leonard (Sherry) Scott, Ron (LuAnn) Scott, Jerry Scott and Dennis (Deirdre) Scott, all of Kewanee, Bernie (Jeanne) Scott of Simpsonville, SC., her daughters, Cheryl Roper of Kewanee and Charlene Mugrage of Galva, twenty-eight grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Julia Loper and a sister-in-law, Mary Ferris, both of Kewanee and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She had worked at several business establishments and for homeowners in the Galva area and had worked at the Galva Foundry for 17 years until retiring in 1981. After her retirement, she enjoyed walking and working in her flower garden but her greatest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
