|Don A. Simmons, age 68, of Alpha, Illinois died on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on September 25, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Hershel J. and Mary Lucille Lisk Simmons.
He married Judith A. King on October 25, 1959 in Williamsfield, Illinois.
She survives of Alpha, Illinois.

Sister: Margaret A. Schwenn of LeClaire, Iowa
Brothers-In-Law: LeRoy Schwenn and Jim King

Grandchildren: Morgan (Travis) Lawson, Andrea Simmons, Josh (Casey) Simmons, Robert Simmons, Emily (Jason Lawson) Wignall, and Erika (David Fost) Wignall

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Maurice, John William, James Edward and Richard Dean Simmons; and two half-sisters: Josephine Blunt of Princeton, Iowa and Deborah Leigh of Cleveland, Ohio.
He attended Abingdon Schools.
He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring after 30 years from the Department Water Service. He was Secretary-Treasurer of the Union for many years.
He had Masonic affiliation for many years.
He was known for his wit and humor and loved his family.
Cremation Rites will be accorded.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Abingdon Cemetery in Abingdon, Illinois. Rev. Andy Bush officiating.
