|Mrs. Madelyn Louise Akers, 83, formerly of 405 W. North St., Abingdon, Ill., died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born June 7, 1927 near Blandinsville, Ill. to Dale and Florine Bagley Lefler. She married Glen Akers August 30, 1958 in Good Hope, Ill. He preceded her in death July 16, 1988.
Surviving is a son, Paul Akers of Galesburg, a step daughter, Glenda Carruthers of Galesburg, a sister, Doris Tucker of Bolingbrook, Ill., a two step grandchildren, Tyson Carruthers and Mary Carruthers, three step great grandchildren, a niece, Annette Anderson of Bolingbrook and a nephew, James Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Louise graduated from Good Hope High School, Good Hope, Ill. in 1945 and attended Gem City Business College for two years. She worked in the office of the Savings and Loan in Bushnell, Ill. from 1948 - 1957. She later worked for the Circuit Clerk's office in Macomb, Ill.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Good Hope Cemetery. Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Galesburg. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
