Johnson, Kenneth W.
Kenneth W. Johnson, 84, of Gerlaw, IL died at 10:21 A.M. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

He was born Sept. 9, 1925 on the family farm near Gerlaw the son of Freddy Clarence and Lillian A. (Issacson) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Gerlaw where he rode his pony t0 the Chapman Grade School. He later graduated from Monmouth High School in 1943.

Kenneth married Norma Grace Carlson in Galesburg on Aug. 19, 1948 and she survives.

Kenneth farmed on the Johnson family farm his entire life. He also lived his entire life within 1 miles of his birthplace. He was a very good welder and enjoyed assisting his neighbors with their repairs. He loved boating, motorcycles, ATVs and spoiling his grandchildren.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Monmouth.

Surviving family include his wife; 3 children, Julie (Ron) Prokop of Solon, IA, Randy (Tina) Johnson of Gerlaw and Debbie (Rex) Allan of Montrose, CO; 6 grandchildren, Nicki Even, Darcey Pontious, Nicki Kauffman, Halley Johnson, Kristin (Zach) Tharp and David Eichstadt; 5 great grandchildren, Braden, Natalie, Taylor, Bryson & Asher, 7 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren and one sister, Evelyn Brake of Galesburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Jeffrey Johnson and grandson, Casey Even.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park. Friends may call on Monday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
