|Ermil Simmons, 91, 121 W. Simmons St., Galesburg, died at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born April 11, 1919 in Hardinsburg, Ky. the daughter of Rufus B. and Grace Hickerson Roberts. She married Hubert T. Simmons on March 11, 1947 in Owensboro, Ky. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1988.
She is survived by three sons, Robert T. (and Serena) Simmons of Knoxville, Ill., Hugh F. (and Janice) Simmons of East Moline, Ill., and Daniel B. (and M'Len) Simmons of Galesburg, a daughter, Dixie (and Roger) Mathews of Lodi, Calif., 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, a brother, Edwin Roberts of Galesburg, two sisters, Vera Dowell and Anna Voyles, both of Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathy Clark on July 17, 1982, and Peggy A. White on June 19, 2008, a grandson, two brothers, and five sisters.
Ermil was a homemaker who had lived in Galesburg since 1951. She was a member of First Church of the Open Bible. Her passions in life were her relationships with her Lord, Jesus Christ, her family, and friends.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at First Church of the Open Bible. Pastor Mark Dexter will officiate. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.
