|Terry Ray Simpson, age 72, of 410 W. South St., died Tuesday morning, June 7, 2011 at his home.
He was born on February 7, 1939 in Abingdon, the son of Merle and Irma (Kilpatrick) Simpson. He married Janice Faye Bevard on September 9, 1967 in London Mills. She survives.
Terry is also survived by one son, Greg (and Vickey) Simpson of Ash Grove, Missouri; one granddaughter, two great-grandsons, one step-granddaughter and two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed (and Marsha) Simpson of Abingdon and Billy Simpson residing in the state of Washington; two sisters, Cleta Boydstun and Joyce Fishel both of Abingdon and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Scott David Simpson, one granddaughter Star Elaine Simpson daughter of Scott Simpson, three sisters Waneta Quinn, Carmen Thrasher and Carol Lewis, and three brothers Roger Simpson, Jerry Simpson and Merle "Sam" Simpson.
He had lived in Abingdon, London Mills and Eagle Point, Oregon. He was a laborer working in construction for 43 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and gardening.
Janice said "Terry loved his family. When he dreamed, he always drempt of catching that BIG fish! He had a big heart. He was the BEST! And I will love him forever and always."
Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
