Faur, Dorothy M.
Dorothy M. Faur, 87, a resident of Knox County Nursing Home, formerly of Woodhull, IL, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Nursing Home. Services are 2:00 PM Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull, IL. Burial is in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Ophiem, IL. Visitation is from Noon until time of services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran Church or AlWood Academic Foundation. She was born August 7, 1923 in Ophiem, IL, to Rutherford and Esther Edman Ossian. She graduated from Alpha High School and married Morris Larson May 20, 1943 in Ophiem. He died in 1969. She later married Irvin Faur on November 18, 1972 in Ophiem. He died in 1998.

Dorothy was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal, was a farmwife and raised five children. She was the Unit secretary/bookkeeper for AlWood School District for many years. Music was a large part of Dorothy's life as she was church organist at Grace Lutheran Church in Ophiem, IL and Zion Lutheran in Princeton, Iowa.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the "Sweet Adelines" choral group in Galesburg, IL. She enjoyed playing cards with the 500 Club and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Dorothy spent her retirement years in the Florida Keys and for many years enjoyed outdoor activities along the Mississippi.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Barb (Bo) Elliott and Pam (Bob) Eiker all of Woodhull, IL, Shirley Stowe of Belmont, NC, 2 sons, Randy (Jan) Larson of Alpha, IL and Dick Larson of Chicago, IL, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Her parents, husbands and one brother, Orville Ossian preceded her in death.
