Foldi, William S.
William S. "Bill" Foldi, 68, of Galesburg died at 10:00 pm Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

Bill was born July 27, 1943, in Gary, Ind., the son of Steve and Helen Dinwoodie Foldi. He married Mary Beth in June 1968 in Woodstock, Ill. She survives. Also surviving are his two brothers-in-law, Al (Julie) Beth of Winona, Minn. and Harry Carey of Crown Point, Ind., several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister.

Bill pursued many professions during his lifetime. He worked as a mental health professional for the State of Illinois at the Chicago State Hospital and the Galesburg Research Hospital, and then for Galesburg's Anderson Florist for several years. He later taught elementary school for District #205 for 24 years, retiring in June 2001. He graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1961 and Mac Murray College in Jacksonville, Ill. in 1965. Bill enjoyed volunteering and had a passion for reaching out to young people. He served on the boards for KCCDD, the Galesburg Art Center and Studios Midwest, the Alumni Board of Mac Murray College, and the Auxiliary Area Wide Boards of OSF St. Mary Medical Center. He attended the First Presbyterian Church, where he was a long time choir member. He also dedicated time each year for the Stearman Fly In.

Bill's passion and flair for interior design was well known, and he was appreciated by friends and family as the consummate host, opening his house for parties and celebrations. In addition, he was a very talented leaded glass crafter and an avid NASCAR fan.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Deacon Dave Steeples will officiate. A visitation will be 1:00-3:00 pm Sunday at the chapel. Cremation will follow services.
