|Everett H. Cook, 88, formerly of Little Swan Lake, Avon, Ill. died at 11:16 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
He was born May 31, 1925 in London Mills, Ill. to Jerold and Esther Shumard Cook. He married L. Bertha Hart May 13, 1943 in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Richard (Kathy) Cook of Jacksonville, Ill.; three daughters, Jeanne (Rick) Morrison of Abingdon, Julia (Kenneth) Williamson of Avon, and Joyce (John) Hutchins of Avon; a sister, Roberta (Rabon) Wyatt of London Mills, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Cook and two brothers, Donald Cook and Frederick Cook.
Everett was a farmer his whole life. He also worked for Butler Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for 36 years and retired February 1, 1984. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Avon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific as a Seaman 1st Class on the U.S.S. Randolph. He was a life time member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381, Abingdon.
Cremation will be accorded. Private family committal service will be held at a later date in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ellisville, Ill. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Avon. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
