|Edward P. Wilson, 89, of Galesburg, Ill. died 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at his home.
He was born August 17, 1923 in Galesburg to William Edward and Beulah Hare Wilson. He married Betty Louise Bainter July 26, 1944 in Rock Island, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Edward (and Kirsten) Wilson of Kingman, Ariz. and Michael (and Janice) Wilson of Galesburg, a daughter, Cheryl (and Bennie) Knox of Gilson, Ill., eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis.
Edward was a truck driver for Dohrn Transfer Company, Galesburg for 35 years. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. He was a charter member of V.F.W. Post #2257, Disabled American Veterans and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and former member of Father Joseph Hunt Council #556, Knights of Columbus, Galesburg.
Visitation will be 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday June 28, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg with military rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post # 285. Memorials may be made to Ralph M.
