|Doris V. Olson, 91, of Aledo, died Saturday July 3, 2010 at the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo. Services are 10:00 AM Thursday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 PM Wednesday at Fippingers where memorials may be left to Mercer County Senior Citizens Center or Landry's Helping Heart Foundation. She was born January 24, 1919 in DesMoines, IA a daughter of Laures and Helen Knox Surber. She was adopted by Don and Ethel Moor, attended Waukegan schools and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1936. On February 5, 1938, she was united in marriage to Clifford James Olson in Davenport. He died in 1982.
She was a homemaker and for years delivered Meals-on-Wheels in Aledo.
Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aledo, the Columbian Club, Mercer County Senior Citizens Center, AARP, Mercer County Farm Bureau Women's Association, Merry Makers Card Club and was a former member and actively involved in the Norwood Presbyterian Church and the College Avenue Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, sewing and crafts.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy (Jeff) Fisher of Edgington, IL, a son, Bill (LuAnn) Olson of Aledo, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, daughter, Helen McNall, son James Olson, 1 great grandchild Landry and 1 brother Cecil preceded her in death.
