Maloney, Scott
Scott Maloney, 99 years of age, Alexis, died at 2:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 A.M. Sat. July 17, 2010, at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church with Phil Cooper officiating. Cremation was accorded and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 A.M. Sat. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Alexis United Presbyterian Church or OSF Hospice.

Scott Maloney was born June 27, 1911, in Alexis, IL the son of William J. and Bertha E. (Scott) Maloney. He married Mary Louise Porter on Christmas Day 1942, celebrating 63 1/2 of marriage before her death on June 9, 2006.

Mr. Maloney graduated from Sunnyside School and Alexis High School, participating in track and FFA. Scott attended the University of Illinois where he as a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and the University of Illinois ROTC, serving as squad leader. After the sudden death of his father, Scott left the University of Illinois to manage the family farm in real Alexis and raise livestock.

Mr. Maloney was a 72 year member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church, a 73 year member of the Alexandria and Viola - Preemption Masonic Lodge #577 and a 66 year life member of the Galesburg Elks Lodge #894. He was a Warren County Deputy Sheriff, Mercer County surveyor, Mercer County Boy Scout board member, North Henderson Township Democratic precinct committeemen, Alexis High School Agricultural Advisory Committee, an Alexis All Stars 4-H Club Leader and a Mercer County Farm Bureau member.

Scott enjoyed attending Alexis High School athletic events, especially when his two grandsons, Kip and Tod, participated. He also enjoyed playing cards with his pitch friends, socializing, traveling in his Oldsmobile and telling historical stories about his hometown of Alexis.

Survivors include a daughter, Sara Ann (William) Meyer of Alexis, two grandsons, Kip D. (Carmen) Meyer of Wildomar, CA and Tod M. (Laura) Meyer of Bloomington, IL; 5 great grandchildren, Alexis Nicole, Grant Scott, Claire Marie, Parker James and Blake Maloney Meyer; one brother in law, George A. (Phyllis) Porter of Melbourne, FL. and sister in law, Caroline Porter of Galesburg, seven nieces and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a sister, Eleanor L. Maloney
