Marjorie Helen Cavanaugh, 86, of Monmouth died at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Monmouth Nursing Home.
She was born February 11, 1924 in Mercer County, Illinois, the daughter of Milton and Margaret (Holmes) Simpson. She was reared and educated in Alexis, attending Lone Star Grade School and Alexis High School.
Marjorie married George Cavanaugh in Mississippi on December 23, 1949.
In the early forties Marjorie worked at Hawcocks Restaurant, Knepps Dress Shop and Johnsons South 8th Street Grocery. She lived in Arizona until 1964 and returned to Monmouth and worked at McCrery Pharmacy for 15 years.
Surviving are her two daughters, Peggy Rosine of Burlington, IA and Mary Ann Cavanaugh of Monmouth; one grandson, Matthew Rosine of Indianapolis, IN and one sister in law, Marian Simpson of Monmouth
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Hazel Powell and two brothers, Robert "Bob" Simpson and John "Jack" Simpson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Agnes Brady of the Norwood Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday morning at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where visitation with her family will be from 10:00 until the time of service.
