|Loran Edward Griffith, 83, 112 Arizona Ave., East Galesburg, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center with family at his side.
He was born December 23, 1926 in Green Tower, Mo., the son of Charles Clifford and Edna L. Greenwell Griffith. He married Helen Jones in 1948. He later married Esther I. McCall on August 5, 1972 in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Sharon Downard and Sandy (and Mike) Burkhalter, both of Galesburg, and Curtis Griffith of Peoria, one step daughter, Brenda James of Ft. Worth, Texas, and one sister, Dot (and Dale) Garman of Galesburg. Loran is also survived by eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Don and Chuck, and step daughter, Pat Eibner.
Loran was a laborer for Butler Manufacturing Company for 36 1/2 years, retiring January 2, 1988. Loran was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He dearly loved his pets.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
