|Alice M. Folger, 44, of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon, died at 4:00 am Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her home.
She was born on June 16, 1966 in Galesburg, the daughter of Weldon and Evelyn (Simpson) Nelson. She married Jack Strickland. She later married Ronald Folger in Berwick.
Alice is survived by her husband, Ronald Folger of Galesburg; one daughter, Carisa (and David) Woodruff of Abingdon; two sons, Joseph Strickland of the US Army serving in Afghanistan and Steven (and Tasha) Strickland of Knoxville; a nephew who was raised in her home, Ryan Nelson; four sisters, Leona (and Tim) Johnson of Abingdon, Ruth Ann Nelson and Pam Simpson both of Galesburg and Lavonna Collins in the state of Tennessee; one brother, Richard (and Kelly) Nelson of Abingdon; nine grandchildren; aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She grew up in Abingdon, attended Abingdon schools and attended the Church of God of Prophecy. She had lived in Galesburg the past eleven years. She worked at the Galesburg Wal-Mart Store for the past 18 years.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday at the chapel.
