|Elizabeth L. Goodwin, 89, of Monmouth died at 6:05 P.M. Sunday, July 10, 2011 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.
She was born February 10, 1922 in Vivian, Louisiana the daughter of James and Lucille (Crain) McElroy. She was raised and educated in Arkansas, Texas and Illinois, graduating from Grayville High School in Grayville, Illinois. She later attended the University of Missouri Dental College while training to be a Dental Assistant.
Elizabeth married James Goodwin in Evansville, Indiana on February 12, 1940.
Elizabeth worked for General Telephone starting out as an operator in 1945 and eventually rising to the position of Chief Operator in the Bloomington, IL office before retiring in 1982. She enjoyed fishing her entire life. She like to fish in small lakes like Spring Lake near Macomb.
Surviving are her two grandchildren, Tyler (Stacey) Moore of Waukesha, WI and Erin Elizabeth (Matthew) Dvorak of Chicago; great grandsons, Carter Allen Moore and Cameron Michael Moore both of Waukesha, WI; son in law, Roger Moore of Monmouth; sister, Virginia Lilleen (Kenneth) Bingman of Carmi, IL; one brother, James (Jean) McElroy of Carterville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cindy Moore; grandson, Mica Andrew Moore and one sister, Sweetie Louise Lee.
Graveside services will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth with Jack Toal of the Countryside Bible Church officiating. No visitation hours are planned. Friends may call at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to the Pancreatic Cancer Research "PanCan."
