|Keith Allan Springer, 84, who resided with his son Tom in Pekin, Ill. and formerly of St. Augustine, Ill. died at 5:45 am Saturday, July 23, 2011 in Pekin.
He was born on January 22, 1927 in Macomb, the son of Olan and Eula (Kitch) Springer. He married Ida M. Adolphson on March 6, 1953 in Colchester, Ill. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Brian Springer, and one brother, Ivan Springer.
Keith is survived by three sons, Rev. Allan (and Lori) Springer of Shelbyville, Ind., Tom (and Leia) Springer of Pekin and Roger (and Connie) Springer of Middlegrove, Ill.; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald (and Hope) Springer of Galesburg, Ill. and Rev. Lon (and Janice) Springer of Good Hope, Ill.; one sister, Ola Belle (and Terry) Jordine of Macomb, Ill.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked at ADM in Galesburg for over 30 years retiring in 1989. He had lived in St. Augustine from 1954 until moving to Pekin in 2007. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Ill. His hobbies included playing the harmonica, woodworking and gardening.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Michel Clark of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
