|Clyde L. Howard, 95, of Monmouth formerly of Little York, IL, died at 9:02 P.M. Friday, July 1, 2011 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.
He was born September 22, 1915 in Rushville, IL the son of Charles A. and Opal M. (Nothern) Howard.
Clyde married Maude Louise Liby in Ottumwa, IA on November 22, 1937 and she died September 24, 1986.
As a young man he spent time in CCC Camp 615 in Escalade, OR working as a commissary clerk. Most of his life was spent faming. For 30 years Clyde farmed with Glen Parsons south of Little York. During that time he took great pride in tipping the Chicago Cattle Market regularly. He also worked for Boydston Bros. Lumber Yard in Little York, which he managed until it closed in 1984.
Survivors include his half sisters, Sandra (Gary) Williams of Muscatine, IA and Pam Thurman of Parker, Co; half brother, Russell (Barb) Howard of Kirkwood; nephew, Jan Sorenson of Indiana; special nieces, Karen Bowe of Parker, Co and Linda Seaver of Lake Havasu City, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, James Herbert Howard; sister, Eva Sorenson; and half brother, Charles Howard.
As per Clyde's wishes cremation has been accorded. Graveside committal services will be 10:30 Sat. July 9, 2011 at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth with Pastor David Dutton of the Little Cedar Presbyterian Church officiating. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Salvation Army or the Little Cedar Presbyterian Church in Little York. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
