|Betty J. Ledbetter, 90, of 550 E. Carl Sandburg Dr., Galesburg Died 2:32 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg. She was born July 9, 1921 in Monmouth, Ill. to Earl Ray and Mearl Stickell Curry. She married Raymond Ledbetter July 5, 1940 in Palmyra, Mo. They where married 59 years until he preceded her in death in 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Patsy (and Harold) Ehlert of Overland Park, Kan. and Sherry (and Glen) Glas of Galesburg, two sisters, Jody (and Vince) Morrissey of Galesburg and Mary (and Charles) Bowen of Garden Grove, Calif., three grandchildren, Jeffrey (and Kristy) Ehlert, Todd (and Rachel) Ehlert and Sean T. Glas and seven great grandchildren, Kole Kenan, Maddie Kenan, David Ehlert, Zachary Ehlert, Jacob Glas, Megan Ehlert and Will Ehlert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, five brothers and a grandchild Toni Rae Kenan.
Betty graduated from Monmouth High School in 1939. Following graduation, she worked as a telephone operator. She worked with Ray in business for the Standard Oil Company for 25 years. After retiring in 1976, she and Ray enjoyed traveling and social dancing. Her family was the most important thing in her life.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Valentin, her nurses, nurses on third floor at Cottage Hospital and nurses and care givers at Heartland Health Care Center.
Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Kristine Ehlert will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to Discovery Depot Children's Museum.
