Trowbridge, Donald E.
Donald E. Trowbridge, age 83, of Knoxville, Illinois died on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 5:50 A.M. at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

He was born on July 18, 1928 in Brimfield, Illinois the son of Fred and Frances Slayton Trowbridge. He grew up and was educated in the Maquon and Yates City area. He graduated from Yates City High School in 1946. He married Patricia Joan Boswell on June 26, 1949 in Peoria, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 11, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters: Janice Lynn (Dan) Gormley of Foley Alabama and Kristie T. (Greg) Petermeyer of Yates City, Illinois; one son: Donald Richard (Rhonda) Trowbridge of Knoxville, Illinois. Five grandchildren: Tricia (Jarod Tripp) Brewer, Ryan D. (Kelly Taylor) Brewer, Trenton Trowbridge, Melissa Petermeyer, and Caitlin Trowbridge, including two step-granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Brewer and five step great grandchildren, including Caiden Taylor. One sister: Mary Ann (Dan) Knaub of Peoria, Illinois. His Loving Companion whom he lived with for several years, Mary Dawson of Knoxville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, and one sister.

After retiring from Standard/Amoco Oil, he continued to pursue his love of farming until his death. He sold Crows Seed Corn for several years and worked part time for Zink Oil Co.

He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Knoxville, Illinois.
He was a lifetime member of Yates City Lodge #448 AF&AM and served as Worshipful Master. He was also a Past Patron of Yates City Eastern Star Chapter #256 and Served as High Priest of Royal Arch Mason in Yates City. He served as a member and President of the board of Education of Yates City Community School District #207. He also served as a Trustee for the Board of Trustees of Salem Township.

He enjoyed playing golf at Laurel Greens in the Tuesday morning golf league. He always enjoyed watching Chicago Cubs baseball and was an avid fan for all of his life.
He enjoyed spending his winters in Port Charlotte and Arcadia, Florida for many years.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Phyllis Sterr officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois, with Masonic Services at 7:30 P.M. conducted by the Yates City Masonic Lodge #448. Memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church or the Friends of the Knox County Nursing Home.
