|James J. (Jim) "Batman" Williams, age 70 of Altona, Illinois, died at 5:07 P.M. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born on August 10, 1941 in Memphis, Missouri, the son of J. Leslie and H. Lucille Garrison Williams. He graduated from ROVA High School. He married Maxine Welch on February 1, 1960. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2006.
Surviving is his mother, Lucille Williams of Monmouth, Illinois; his sister, Darlene (Terry) Scalf of Monmouth, Illinois; his brother, Ed Williams of Davenport, Iowa. Also surviving is a daughter, Jan Kelly of Victoria, Illinois; and three sons: Allen (Alby) Williams of Woodhull, Illinois; Gary (Christina) Williams of Victoria, Illinois; and Danny (Tammy Morris) Williams of Altona, Illinois. Nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, wife, and a daughter, Janita Sargeant.
He spent most of his life driving a semi, he drove for Bertis Carlson Trucking of Galesburg, Illinois for 22 years, before retiring in February of 2012. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Oneida, Illinois. Rev. David Pyell will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Oneida, Illinois. Inurnment will be in the Bushnell Cemetery, Bushnell, Illinois.
