Cook, Evelyn L.
Evelyn L. Cook, 84, of Galesburg, formerly of Appleton, Ill., died at 9:11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

She was born November 18, 1927 in Knoxville, Ill. the daughter of Everett and Verna Nelson Pruett. She married Earl A. Cook on February 26, 1950 in Knoxville.

She is survived by her husband, Earl; a son, Steven (and Chris) Cook of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; two daughters, Deb (and Tom) Myers of Knoxville and Kathy (and Danny) Snider of Alexis, Ill.; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Frank in 1984; and two brothers.

Evelyn was raised in the Maquon area and graduated from Gilson High School in 1945. She was a farmwife in rural Knox County most of her life. She was a member of Maxey Chapel United Methodist Church. Evelyn was a 4-H leader for 25 years, a member of the Knox County Home Extension for 30 years, and a member of T.O.P.S.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Pastor Russ Collister will officiate. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Maxey Chapel United Methodist Church or a charity of the donors choice. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
