|Clifford J. Buckman 90 of Maquon, Illinois passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 9:28 AM at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois.
Clifford was born the son of Emery and Roletta (Dikeman) Buckman on April 5, 1922 in rural Knox County. After graduating from Maquon High School he joined the Army during WWII and served from 1942-1945. He married Louise Swanson on May 26, 1946 in Victoria, Illinois. She survives him of Maquon, Illinois.
Also surviving are his children James (special friend Janet) Buckman of Maquon and Joyce (Danny) Richard of Maquon and six grandchildren Aaron (Amy) Taylor of Oneida, Dee Dee (David) Boyer of Maquon, Neil (Susi) Taylor of Maquon, Tiffany Buckman of Maquon, Don Taylor of Fairview and Jarod (Kari) Buckman Maquon. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Buckman.
Clifford was a retired farmer. He was also a member of the Maquon Masonic Lodge, Fairview American Legion, past Township supervisor and on the board of trustees for the Maquon Fire Department. He enjoyed tractor pulls, go-kart racing, showing horses, yard sales, fishing especially for catfish and he always loved having his friends and family come over to see him.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville. Rev. Sue Bryce will be officiating. Burial will take place at the Maquon Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Fairview American Legion. Visitation will be at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home Friday from 6-7:30 PM with Masonic Services taking place at 7:30 PM.
