|Doris Taylor, age 89 of Galesburg and formerly of Berwick, died at 3:15 am Saturday, July 28, 2012 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
She was born on February 24, 1923 in Vermont, Illinois, the daughter of Chester and Goldie (Stambaugh) Derry. She married Fred Taylor on June 22, 1940 in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 1, 2012.
Doris is survived by her four sons, Larry (and Anne) Taylor of Galesburg, Mike (and Mary Stroops) Taylor of Abingdon, Roger (and Janet) Taylor of Galesburg and Paul "Pat" Taylor of Berwick; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Verna (and Cecil) Bramlett of East Galesburg.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, two sisters and three grandchildren.
She worked at the Blue Bell in Abingdon and later was a housekeeper for Berwick area families. She had also worked at Maytag. She had lived in Galesburg since December of 2000 and prior to that had made her home in Berwick. She was of the Baptist faith. Her hobbies included gardening, taking care of her yard and spending time with her family.
Graveside service will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
