|Wayne E. "Gene" Wilson, 83, of Galesburg, died at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Seminary Manor.
He was born May 4, 1930 in Roseville, Ill. the son of Oral D. and Lena J. Larimer Wilson.
He is survived by a sister, Irene Tayler of Dothan, Ala.; seven nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Melvin Wilson; and three sisters, Josephine Murdock, Roberta Baxter, and Barbara Wilson.
Gene was a truck driver for Brown's Specialty for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He graduated from Galesburg High School and Brown's Business College. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Gene enjoyed working in his yard and being with family. Most recently, he enjoyed his caring family at Seminary Manor.
Gene served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Mary Runge will officiate. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.
