|Iona M. Milligan, 90, of Galesburg, died at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Richard L. Owen Hospice House in Peoria.
She was born January 18, 1923 in Blue Island, Ill. the daughter of George and Viola (McKinney) Dunham. She married Leon Milligan on February 6, 1941 in Knoxville, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1979.
She is survived by two sons, Michael (and Rosette) Milligan of Triangle, Va. and Patrick Milligan of Galesburg; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Victor (and Lucy) Dunham of Providence, R.I. and Donald (and Clare) Dunham of Buffalo, Ill.; and three sisters, Marcella Byerline of Mechanicsburg, Ill., Frances Georges of Quincy, Ill., and Avalee Ertl of Illiopolis, Ill. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Iona was a seamstress, working for Johnson's Decorating and Courtwright Decorating. She had lived in Galesburg since graduating from New Salem High School in 1939.
Iona attended First United Methodist Church. She had been a member of the American Business Women's Association, TOPS, and OAKS. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and embroidery. Iona loved flowers and collecting things.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacon Jim Haneghan will officiate.
