|Robert Gordon Murrell, age 78 of Roseville, died at 11:15 pm Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at his home.
He was born on June 7, 1935 in Roseville, the son of Willard and Mary (Roberts) Murrell. He married Nancy Ann Bird on June 14, 1958 at the United Methodist Church in Roseville.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; one daughter, Carol Ann Baker of Pooler, Georgia; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Murrell of Davenport, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James and Morris, and one sister, Maple Marie Murrell.
He graduated from Roseville High School. He enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. He lived in Roseville most of his life and had worked at the Meat Packing Plant in Monmouth. He also had worked for the State Highway Department and the Abingdon Pottery. He was a member of the Roseville Christian Church. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Roseville Christian Church. Rev. James Oliver and Rev. Jack Wingate will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow in the Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday at the church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
