Balbinotti, Nancy Kay
Nancy Kay Balbinotti, 66, of Galesburg, died at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

She was born April 23, 1947 in Galesburg, the daughter of Riley L. and Rachel I. (Boley) Bowen. She married William L. "Bill" Balbinotti on December 29, 2001 in Galesburg. She had previously been married to Michael Schulthes.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Bill of Galesburg; a son, Chris (and Melissa) Schulthes of London Mills, Ill.; a daughter, Julie (and Paul) Pierce of Cuba, Ill.; a step-son, Brent (and Judy) Balbinotti of Iowa City, Iowa; a step-daughter, Tracee Roberts of Fort Madison, Iowa; four grandchildren, Blane, Danielle, Gavin, and Cameron; a brother, Don (and Karla) Bowen of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a niece, Melissa Bowen-Fojut; and her two cocker spaniels, Willie and Abby. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1965. She graduated from Western Illinois University in 1970. Nancy was an elementary school teacher at Spoon River Valley School, retiring as a 4th grade teacher. She had also operated a private pre-school. After living in London Mills for many years, she returned to Galesburg.

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Currently, she has been active at Galesburg First United Methodist Church, where she was involved in Adult Bible Study, Stephen Ministries, and assisted with communion. Nancy enjoyed her flower gardens and was an avid photographer.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at First United Methodist Church. Mary Runge will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
