Leonard "Bud" Commean, 68, of Galesburg, died at 3:03 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at home.
He was born August 12, 1941 in Galesburg, the son of Leonard B. "Bud" and Helen L. Dibuono Commean. He married Joyce E. Higgs in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his mother, Helen L. Commean of Galesburg, two sons, Brad (and Pam) Steele of Galesburg and Dean (and Gwen) Martin of Homosassa, Fla., a daughter, Brandi Hays of Boynton Beach, Fla., five grandchildren, one great grandson, a sister, Linda Nelson of Galesburg, a sister-in-law, Terri Commean of Galesburg, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on December 2, 1996, his brother, Bruce "Butch" Commean in 2000 and his brother-in-law, Jack Nelson.
Bud owned and operated DSS Loading Dock in Galesburg for over 20 years. He graduated from St. Joseph High School and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Father William Miller will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Prayers at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
