|Hazel Dorene (Wynkoop) Elliott, 94, of Galesburg, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born November 8, 1915 in Troy, east of Avon, Ill. the daughter of Ernest and Anna Abbadusky Wynkoop. She married Lenard C. Elliott on February 14, 1935 in Fairview, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, June Benson of Galesburg, two sons, Gene (and Carolyn) Elliott of Rockford, Ill. and Roger (and Ruthann) Elliott of Plainfield, Ill., seven grandchildren, Cameron (and Crystal) Junkin of San Diego, Calif., Randall Elliott of Austin, Texas, Rochelle Elliott of Chicago, Russell (and Jia) Elliott of Chicago, Allisa (and Mark) Opyd of Homewood, Ill., Todd (and Shannon) Elliott of Mansfield, Mass., and Stephen (and Bee) Elliott of Wegberg, Germany, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, her parents, a brother, LaVerne, and a sister, Edythe.
Hazel attended school in London Mills and graduated from Fairview High School. She began her working career in Abingdon at the Blue Bell Company and retired after working 33 years from the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg.
She was a long time member of First Church of God.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Dennis McQuown will officiate. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.
